This is a petition addressed to Leeds City Council under Section 80 of The Local Government and Public involvement in Health Act 2007 (hereinafter referred to as ‘The Act’).
We the undersigned, each being a local government elector for the area defined below call upon Leeds City Council to conduct a Community Governance Review in accordance with Section 81 of The Act.
Pursuant of Section 80(4) of the Act we recommend the council designates the neighbourhood of Guiseley, part of the ward of Guiseley and Rawdon and comprising of all of the town of Guiseley and that part of LS29 included in the Ward, bounded by Yeadon and Menston and that a town council is established for this defined area.
We further recommend that this town be called Guiseley.
The process of navigating the council requirements for this review has been exhausting and full of bureaucratic hurdles. I am spending my evenings reviewing council legislation just to keep this moving forward because we deserve a local voice in Guiseley. It is a long road but I am not walking away from this.

Wholeheartedly support the creation of Guiseley Town Council - should have happened when it was raised over 10 years ago.

Rawdon, Horsforth aand Otley all have town councils and Yeadon is considering whether to have one. The councils give their residents the opportunity to be involved in their own communites and I am sure that Guiseley residents would value a similar opportunity.

Guiseley has been swamped with more and more housing without any investment in its infrastructure and with its residents having no say on matters such as this which have had a major effect on the town and its ability to function.

A Guiseley Town Council would be a very good way of ensuring the views of local residents are most effectively considered when deciding the future of Guiseley.

We need to impress on Leeds the serious effect all the additional housing is having on transport and local services.

How much extra will it cost?
What real good can it do for the community if LCC only consults!
Do we really want extra household costs at this time?
