Town councils are needed for many reasons, 4 of which are: 1) To help to limit grandiose or silly money wasting white elephant projects which centrailsed metropolitan councils tend to spend vast sums on by helping immediate localities obtain a fair share of council revenue. 2) To create prompt and voiciferous responses to locally damaging proposals made by indifferent centrailsed councils. 3) To promote local projects which would otherwise not be promoted. 4) To create a sense of community spirit which is is difficult to value in monetary terms but which is, none the less, immensely valuable.
