I have been walking my own dogs by the basin every day and watching them struggle on that scorching dirt. It is clear that we deserve a shaded area where they can play without burning their paws. I am currently reaching out to the parks department to see who oversees the maintenance of this space.

Seeing this grow makes me think of my own dog panting on that scorched dirt and how much relief a few trees will actually bring. This surge of interest proves that our neighborhood wants a real park instead of just a patch of heat. We are finally building the momentum to turn this space into something our pets can actually enjoy.

When I used to take my dog here she also injured her paw. I know there’s a path, but when off leash those bushes/short grass is terrible for dogs.
The retention basin needs shade, soft surfaces and water. I would love for Woodbridge to have a real dog park.
There is a great need for this.

Excellent idea. Close enough to walk to for those dogs that are hard to transport (like my friends 80lb bull dog who can’t jump into car), healthier and more pleasant for handler, too. Would make area usable most days of the year for very little additional funds. MAKE WOODBRIDGE EVEN GREATER!!!
