Approximately 200 to 300 dogs visit this park every day making it the most widely used park in Nanaimo. People come from as far away as Cedar to be able to use this facility.
Improvements requested are:
- Repair of potholes and levelling of ground
- Install new grass sod, or although more expensive, artificial turf.
- A covered area for dog owners to sit when the weather is wet or very hot.
- Some trees for shade for dogs and their owners
- Some lighting would be nice :)
- And, if at all possible, paving or repair of the road leading in from Labieux

I am currently gathering feedback from regular park users to present a clear list of safety concerns to the parks department. Email your city councillor today and demand that they prioritize the road repairs and drainage issues at Beban. We need to keep the pressure on our local representatives until they commit to a meeting.
