Who
We, students, teachers and supporters of the Willem de Kooning Academy want to show the work of the graduates at an external location. With this petition we are trying to prove there is a big enough interest for this plan and start a discussion with our school board to convince them to give us this opportunity.
What
A graduation show at an external, more open and recognized exhibition venue. A show that radiates 'graduated' instead of 'school projects', a place where there’s more space for the projects to shine out. Where we, as creative pioneers, can exhibit our work and communicate new visions. It's both a celebration of the graduates and an opportunity for the academy to get involved with the wider world, inviting the art & design community and members of the public to visit and engage with the work on display.
Why
- An external venue will generate more exposure.
- There will be more space for the projects to shine out.
- An external location allows the graduation show to take place for a longer time.
- The graduation show will not interrupt the school facilities/studies.
- Open floor plan - clearer navigation through the exhibitions.

The school board is finally acknowledging our request for a meeting to discuss an external graduation venue. Post the petition link on your Facebook profile today so the board sees that our demand for professional exhibition space has public backing.

WdKA needs this change. Getting the work out into the city makes such a huge difference for our professional careers.

Graduation show is one of the biggest thing for newly graduates to show their work to potential customers/employers/partners, our institution itself has limited space to support students when they need to shine.
Yess nice!!! I only hope it can be at one or two big location(s). That it is not gonna be all splintered up in all sorts of small locations.

Finally!! The school building is way to cramped for the amount of work everyone puts in. A real venue would be so much better for networking too
