At American Canyon High School, students are expected to follow a formal dress code for our Graduation Ceremony. Of course, the Class of 2016 will respect this code, however, we believe that students should have the ability to represent their culture. For many of us, we are the first of our families to graduate high school and for others, it is a tradition to wear certain cloths at special occasions. Students should be allowed to express their pride in their culture at Graduation Ceremonies.

In a country where we proclaim our freedom, why shouldn't students have the right to wear cultural garments at THEIR graduation. Graduation is a celebration so why can't it be a celebration of everything that helped them through their time in high school. There is nothing wrong with embracing your culture. This needs to happen.
The kids should be given the right to take pride & express their culture. The school officials should not take that right away from the students, especially since it's not offensive nor harmful to anyone.
I want my seniors to have what they want and this should already be allowed at graduation. 13 years of school should end up with happiness and grace. ACHS is a very diverse school. I sign this so my seniors can graduate with their traditional clothing and for future classes!!
We have always had a diverse culture. As a school we should not only recognize that fact but celebrate it.
We are supposed to be a diveres school but cant represent our cultures. That makes no sense at all

I went there last year(2014) and I'm surprised to just now find this out. I understand dress code but to keep students from expressing their culture and who they are. GO CO16 FOR STANDING UP FOR YOURSELVES!!
