This petition is let governor Northam know we want our children to return back to school in the fall. That we want them to start on time, with all their friends, be aloud to play sports and participate in extracurricular activities. It is important that the governor realizes the negative impact not starting back like normal will have on our children’s academic, mental and social health.

Governor Northam is ignoring our children and we are closing in on 250 signatures to make him listen. We need to force his hand right now before he commits to another year of locking these kids out of their own lives.

Not allowing the kids to return fully to school is a total disservice to their education, mental, social and emotional state. Children need social interactions and to learn to respect teachers, administrators and police. They can not get this behind a screen. The concern should be on the mental well being of children more so than a virus that minimally affects children. I would be happy to sign a waiver to allow my child to go back to school full time.
Working mama and have three babies how am I suppose to tech kindergarten?!? She needs to go to school for the structural environment
I have kids with IEPs. The proposed solutions are not sufficient and do not meet any of their needs. At all
I am also a healthcare worker and I completely agree. We are doing these kids a disservice if we do anything less than return them to school as normal!
Our kids need to be back in school and school sports need to be included, as sports provide much needed structure many kids depend on to maintain good grades and disciplines.
Kids should go back to school full time. If you dont want your child to go back to school it is your right to keep them home.
The drop out rate is going to increase the longer they are out of school

The Covid-19 numbers in Powhatan DO NOT warrant continued distance learning. Our children are SUFFERING. Routine, academics, sports, music, art, friends, and supportive adults are the village that it takes to raise well-balanced, intelligent, critical thinking adults. Open the schools!
