The license for Ghetto Brighton (129 St James St formerly the Candy Bar) states 24 hr trading at weekends. However due to a technical issue the license may be removed. As other gay businesses local to the premises enjoy late night trading past 3am we want to do the same. We feel that the Ghetto brand philosophy and range of nights (alternative music and not intense dance music nights) offers something unique and not currently provided by the other venues. We also feel that asking our customers to leave the venue at a time when the night bus queue to Whitehawk outside the venue is teeming with drunk heterosexual males produces a safety issue for our clientele. With the entertainment industry suffering across the board and with later pub and bar trading hours night clubs need as much flexibility as possible to survive in today

its honestly scary walking home with that crowd outside. keep the doors open so we can stay safe inside until the sun comes up.

Ghetto is the only place in town that plays decent music. Keep it going.
