As a citizen, taxpayer, and educator in the State of Georgia, I petition the Governor, the State Board of Education, the State School Superintendent, and the Georgia General Assembly to take every action necessary to cease and desist from Georgia's participation in the Common Core Standards or any national standards movement, any agreement to share personal student and teacher data with non-education agencies within the State, or with the federal government, including any future grants with that condition; any testing tied to the Common Core Standards and any measures (such as the No Child Left Behind waiver) that require such participation in the Common Core.

As an educator, I petition you to do everything in your power to return full control of state educational policies to the taxpayers and citizens of this State. Federal grants and waivers should not drive this State's educational direction. There is no reason, other than federal grant conditions, that 50 percent of a teacher's evaluation should be based on student test performance on unproven assessments, and this especially holds true if these assessments are created and controlled by entities outside this State.

Georgia’s citizens, who pay approximately $13 billion annually in State and local taxes for education, have the constitutional right to exercise 100 percent control over the educational policies in our public schools. We want a true return to local control so that our voices matter.
