As a citizen and taxpayer of the State of Maine, I petition the Governor, the State Board of Education, and the State School Superintendent to take every actionnecessary to rescind the State's participation in Race to the Top, the Common Core State Standards, any agreement to share student data with the federal government or any othergovernmental or private entity, any national-testing consortium, and any scheme (such as No Child Left Behind/Elementary and Secondary Education Act waivers) that requires such participation. Maine's citizens, who pay state and local taxes for education, have the constitutional rightto exercise100% control over the content standards in our public schools through our duly elected representatives in the Maine Senate and the Maine House.

This is wrong for children. We as parents need to support our educators and stop Common Core in Maine.
Common Core cedes local control of education to the federal government. Input from top experts in reading and math was ignored and the resulting product can be described as bizarre. Common Core is now rolling out across America. Children are highly stressed by age inappropriate standards and the requirement to take additional and unnecessary steps when solving math problems. Parents are resorting to opting their children out of testing, sending their children to private schools, homeschooling, and are now forming groups to pressure state governments to rescind what they see as a malevolent program. I urge the state of Maine to stop Common Core, the sooner the better.
Common Core needs to be defeated in all states in order to keep America and our Constitution in tact. With Common Core teaching a generation of children will change our history and our future.
I'm looking for group to join in my community to stop common core in Westbrook. If you know of any, please send me information.

When the right answer is given, and subsequently marked wrong due to not fitting "standards," then there's something wrong with the system.
