Gene Ross was a member of the PRHS Jumping Team from 1979-1981. He was captain of the 79-80 and 80-81 teams. He worked on building the jump during the 1979 season as a jumper. He was the first person to jump despite having lost a toss of the coin with Bill Hendrickson to determine which boy would jump first. At the top of the jump, Gene pushed Bill out of the way and proceeded to fly from the jump first. They were state championship teams both years he was captain in 79-80 and 80-81.

Gene was Plymouth's Ski Jumping coach from 1992 to 2003. He was head coach at the time of his death. The New Hampshire High School jumping community awards the Gene Ross Memorial Cup to the outstanding rookie of the year each season. The trophy stays in the PRHS trophy case permanently. The 2015 winner was Lucas Johnstone, a Plymouth jumper who will be on the team again this year.

For these and many other reasons, we would like to honor Gene Ross by naming our new ski jump the Gene Ross Memorial Ski Jump.

Thank you for your support!

Coach Ross was the best. He taught us so much more than just jumping. Definitely name the hill after him.

Gene Ross exemplified spirit and enthusiasm as an athlete and as a coach. This same spirit and enthusiasm is guiding the Plymouth community in our rebuilding effort. It is not only appropriate to name our new jump after Gene, it's the right thing to do.

It would be totally appropriate to name the ski jumps in his name. I was coaching Synapse HS when Gene was a jumper and was still coaching when he coached Plymouth. I hope this happens.

What a perfect way to honor such an influential member of the PRHS ski jumping community.

There is no better name for this ski jump. Gene Ross' memory must live on. His kids are great people and I have the upmost respect for his family.

Gene ("Rossco") was my coach from 1996-2000 and I will never forget how much fun we had with Gene. My time on the team remains one of my best memories of high school and I think of him every time I think of jumping, and that's a lot. Every practice, every meet, every time we're shoveling snow for hours to prep the jump, Gene is there with me. No one comes close to deserving this as much as Gene Ross.
