City of George claims it is the greenest in SA. Rubbish!
George and the greater Eden district are currently facing a recycling crisis. We all know that we should recycle to reduce our carbon footprint and help alleviate the pressure on waste facilities. However, our current recycling company "Borchards Recycling", chosen by our very own municipality, has proven to be inadequate time and time again.
To this day they have failed to comply with the original tender requirements. Borchards has been unable to effectively collect and dispose of the infamous blue bags; the delivery of such is untimely and irregular, Borchards have admitted to not having the capacity to deal with these large quantities which in effect has meant extra pressure on our current waste facility, the illegal dumping of recyclable material in storage houses and moreover Borchards has been unable to fulfil the stipulated service they have been entrusted with.
Borchards Recycling along with the George municipality have failed to uphold this service delivery and consequently the people of George and surrounds, petition towards the removal of Borchards Recycling so that the tender can be granted to an effective, environmentally friendly and proficient company.
Please help us clean up George.
In addition, we ask you to write letters of your personal experiences with this issue and send it to us; this will force the municipality to react.
