The Problem:
Trash containers are always within short reach of apartment buildings, but many times recycling containers are not within walking distance. This makes recycling very inconvenient for the majority of residents. Due to this, countless recyclables are trashed every day.
The Change:
Having one recycling receptacle next to each trash container in all Blacksburg apartment complexes.
What Signing This Petition Does:
By signing this petition, you are saying that you support the idea of having one recycling receptacle to trash container in Blacksburg apartment complexes. This petition will be sent to the Blacksburg Town Council to bring light to the change that needs to happen.
We want to make disposing of recyclables just as easy as disposing of trash for all members of the Blacksburg community, including Virginia Tech students. Every signature helps bring recycling closer to you...literally!

I have been hearing from renters all week about the massive piles of recyclables ending up in the trash because the bins are too far away. Head to the town council website and send them an email right now to tell them we need these containers placed next to every trash bin.

We are approaching one hundred signatures and need to push this over the finish line. Post the link to your Facebook page right now and text three friends who live in Blacksburg to sign. Direct emails to the Town Council carry more weight when they see our growing list of supporters.

We need to have a better system and also make sure bins are clearly labeled. A lot of college students are actually oblivious to what can be recycled so take consideration of that as well! This is a good first step
I always cringe when I am forced to throw away plastic and glassware into the trash because there is no recycling available next to my apartment building. Let's make Blacksburg environmentally friendly!
My roommates and I talk about this all the time. It's frustrating because over half of the waste in our apartment is recyclable but we end up having to throw everything in the dumpster :(
I live in University Terrace and there is only one recycling bin in the whole complex. Sometimes it gets really full fast that leads people to just throw away recyclable items. I am definitely for more recycling containers!
I do not live in the town limits of Blackburg; I am out of town a bit and in Montgomery County. Trash and recycle containers exist side by side in the County service centers. I was surprised to read that this is not the case within Town limits.
This is to help recycle garbage across, The United States Of America. :XD

My roommate keeps all the recycling in our storage closet. Please help me and have recycling in apartment complex so our closet doesn't keep getting filled with trash.
