To whom this may concern

I am starting a petition in order to help the inmates in Alabama, because they have no voice,so I want to step out and be there voice.

My love one is also incarcerated at a facility in Alabama.

The inmates are treated unfairly, and like animals.

The living conditions for the inmates are poor.

The food they serve them is unhealthy.

The prisons in Alabama are all over crowded, there medical treatments as well is also poor, not enough classes, groups for the Inmates to better there selves.

I would like everyone to sign this petition,so that we can make Alabama prisons better and more safe for our love ones

Thank you for taking the time out to read and sign this petition.

It will mean alot to the inmates of the"Free Alabama Movement.

Updates

January 17, 2014

The stories shared by those who have loved ones inside continue to highlight the severity of these living conditions. I am currently compiling your accounts to present to the relevant oversight committees. Your willingness to document these experiences is essential for our progress.

January 17, 2014

The momentum behind this movement reflects a growing refusal to accept the current conditions within our state facilities. Your engagement confirms that this issue deserves the attention of those in power.

I support this petition because I have a son incarcerated at St. Clair Correctional Facility. The food the inmates eat is disguisting, medical attention is extremely poor for the inmates. I have had a couple of experiences with my son needing medical attention and had to call DOC to finally get help. This was after talking with the Warden to no avail.

I don't have any in carceration, but I have done research on the inmates living condition. I understand very well when people do something wrong, it's consequences. The inmates still shouldn't live like animals,( but animals live better than that in their shelter). I just think the justice system can do just a little better than that.

There has g ot to be another way for punishing people who are not out to hurt anyone some people have been unfairly punished it is hard enough for some to pay there monthly expenses already when you add the money that AL expects them to pay or they are violated and sent right back it becomes a way of life and hard for them to make it on the streets when they do come home there are so many people who I know who are doing time because they were scared if they went to probation and just didn't have the money to pay the state on fines or probation fees that they just do not go at all which in turn violates them automaticallyit is a very flawed system let no one really seems to understand the pressure and stress it puts on that person and their family we need change!

my spouse is in Elmore prison and its awful.the kitchen has roaches and rats, they feed them slop .they go through there stuff for no reason.they treat them like dogs.I think the prisoner that's been in there for little things should be released.God gives u a second chance,so should we.

Free the non-violent and feed the violent. Start programs to give these people tools to learn so they can be a productive part of society. You cannot continue to cage people up like animals and treat them worse than animals....
