Hello. My name is Cynthia Cave. I am creating this petition on behalf of ALL Families with Incarcerated loved ones in the OHIO Department of Corrections care past and present. The purpose of this petition is to ask for proper Officials to revise the way families are contacted when a loved one is having or had surgery, or ill needing hospitalization period.
My recent experience with my son is the motivation behind this petition as well. Understandably there are laws for privacy however, far too many inmates have passed away and many families are left empty and clueless. My son had had 2 brain surgeries before HE was permitted to call me and let us know he was sick with an Aneurysm. Overall a total of 4 surgeries were needed to correct the problem. Now he’s back at a facility and my main concern is he’s gonna be sent away to far away prison that I can’t get to, due to transportation and medical reasons. Most importantly in case of another emergency. I just want to keep him close. There is a closer institution for his classification.
Please help me get this issue noticed. I know there's a lot of people out there that may have encounters of their own to share. Let’s help a mother, a father, a sister, a brother, a child, ect stop worrying so much. Let it be known they're NOT ANIMALS. They’re PEOPLE who made Mistakes, with Families That CARE.

In support of families with loved ones who are incarcerated. I stand with you in the request for state officials to review and revise the process of institution placement of offenders, with a specific section dedicated to assessing and identifying families of offenders who have limited resources and to prevent undue hardship being placed on families in an effort to remain consistent with the necessary component of continued family support for the offender throughout his/her incarceration period.

Just because you commit a crime does not means families should also be punished. This petition is for a great cause.
Just because people make mistakes in life and are suffering the consequences of their choices doesn't mean they don't have people that love and care about them. It is cruel and unusual punishment to have them be so far away.
Having a love one in jail far away can cause so much pain &I hurt to the family & inmate I feel if our family was closer to home it be less trouble in jail
Yes, keep them close.Family helps keep them out of trouble.

I need my son closer also. It's sad they send them far away. Just so the family can't visit smh....
