Across Canada children everywhere enjoy the much needed nutrition brought to them in our schools via a snack program. Either breakfast, lunch or a nutritious snack is served by volunteers. It has been brought to the rest of Canada's attention that most school's in Nunavut do not have any program such as this at all.
It has also been brought to our attention that the children of Nunavut have the highest dental failures across Canada. The teeth are a clear indication of lack of nutrition. On March 20th 2014 120 children under 7 were flown to Churchill for dental surgery. It cost $1M to help these children. This is a clear reactive approach. Reacting to the lack of nutrition by a short term painful solution. A proactive approach would be to provide the children with nutritious food in their classrooms. $1M towards a snack program in your territory would certainly go a long way.
These are your people, your people's children, this is the next generation of growing developing children whose bodies need nutrition.
The rest of Canada realized sometimes families everywhere need help to provide their children enough food, nutritious food. Which is why the rest of Canada school's have implemented snack programs.
This is 2015 why does Nunavut not have these same advantages? We believe it is time for this to change. Not in 5 years or 2 years, this is something that the Government needs to implement for the upcoming year. This is a priority situation and should be addressed as such.
This petition is meant to bring this to your attention. The good people of the North deserve an answer to this plea. Their children deserve a snack program like the rest of the children in Canada!

I really thought this might just float around in the void but the momentum here is honestly overwhelming and it feels like people are finally seeing what I see. It is just so wild to watch this grow and I truly cannot believe how many of you stepped up to demand better for these kids because it shows that change is possible if we just keep pushing.

It's a proven fact that proper nutrition helps the students learn in a fuller capacity.
Food is a right. Please recognize that we pay for it now, or we pay for it later in the form of poor health, and social consequences.
It's a sad situation that the children of Nunavut are excluded from such a program . It is costing the Federal Government more to transport these children under 7 to Churchill for dental surgery. Every child should have a right to nutritious food - we live in a prosperous country ! God blessC
Every child deserves help.. I definitely think the morning snack and lunch program should be offered to these little ones.. I wish I knew how to help...
Distance is only one factor. Not a reason for the lack of Food Security in the schools of Nunavut.
Food insecurity in Nunavut is in urgent need of government attention. At Food Secure Canada, we are working with groups across Canada to advocate for a Universal Healthy School Food Program. I invite you to join us!
Feed the children, this gov. is so corrutp and incompetent trying to enforce Agenda 21 World Depopulation signed by 179 Countries. Georgia guidestones say only 500,000,000 get to live. By 2016 the 1% will hold 50% of the World's wealth. Only the strong and smart will survive. Stop starving People and dee them.

A procative approach to this dangerous nutritional problem in Canada's north is preferable ..
