The purpose of the FIX'D Mentor Project is to enlist volunteer candidates (Veterans) to serve communities while maintaining the highest standard of conduct as a Youth Mentor -on site, within local school districts. The total cost to School District: $0.00. Total liability to School District: None. FIX'D Inc. assumes all liability.
In a signed agreement with Local School Districts, FIX'D Inc.'s Youth Mentors will be allowed the flexibility and maneuverability to assist teaching staff in academic tutoring, assistant coaches, facilitating and organizing rallies and youth events. Youth Mentors may act as Liaisons between the students and staff through active listening and observing through immersion. Youth Mentors by definition have a command presence. Their presence alone will be a deterrent to acts of violence.
A. Youth Mentors will meet Security Guard standards within the Local School District. Candidates will be fingerprinted, have to undergo a criminal background check and pass drug tests. You will also need good references to testify to your personal character.
B. FIX'D Youth Mentors will be required to maintain training records in accordance with FIX'D Mentor/Peer Support Counselor standards: CPR/AED First Responder Cert., Teen Intervention and Crisis Cert., Understanding Teen Date violence, Suicide Risk Prevention for Providers, PTSD 101.
* Candidates will be screened through National Sex offender registry / Megan's Law.
