Thornhill Drive, a major artery and only egress used by thousands of Oakland residents has been neglected for many years. From Mountain Blvd to Snake, a distance of less 2 miles we counted over 350 potholes, some 4 inches or more deep, and too many fissures to count. It is now literally impossible to avoid driving into pot holes on route to or from Moraga Blvd and it is also not uncommon to observe vehicles swerving into the opposite lane to avoid them. There are documented reports of cyclists catching their tires in the these dangerous obstructions and suffering injuries. Our children also use this road to walk to Thornhill School and there are no sidewalks. Parents have complained about traffic entering the shoulders to avoid pot holes and nearly causing accidents. Thornhill is in terrible shape. It has not been repaved in 30 years! We petition the City of Oakland to take immediate action to repave the road.

I have been submitting 311 OAK notifications regarding the unsafe road conditions with its large potholes, wide/deep cracks, etc. for years. Thornhill Drive is a major thoroughfare and not safe for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians. It needs to be repaved ASAP!

I fell of my bike when I hit a pothole that couldn't be avoided because I was avoiding a series of potholes ahead of it. The bruising subsided over time but it took me ages to get back on the bike leading to significant difficulties in making the run to work.

Seen a cyclist eat pavement because of the potholes, as well as the swerving cars that others have mentioned. As a pedestrian it's a nightmare during the rainy season, with cars splashing huge puddles from the potholes. Fix it! Totally ridiculous.

This is a major arterial street and is in very bad shape after 30 years. Pothole fixing is like a band aid, necessary but not sufficient. Thor hill needs a total resurfacing, and not just a thin layer to ,Ale it look good for a year or two.

Dangerous - on Thornhill and Colton Blvd, two of the major streets, we often see cars veer across the yellow lines, into oncoming traffic, in order to avoid potholes and other road hazards. The City needs to pay some attention to the streets in the hills, quickly.

We walk down Thornhill to school and have seen some scary almost-accidents. And when you drive down, it's impossible to miss all the holes without swerving into the other lane. It's just a matter of time before someone gets hurt.

OakDOT told Nicholas Vigilante in a May 12, 2020 e-mail that a statement of work (SOW) and a request for contractor repair quotes (RFQ) won't happen until the end of this year 2020 - meaning repair work may not start until 2021. The work was promised to begin in the Spring or Summer of 2020. Please don't blame the Councilmember, she tried very hard for us. The problem is at OakDOT. Please write OakDOT Director Ryan Russo at [email protected] and Mayor Libby Schaaf at [email protected] to express extreme displeasure, and request that the repair work be completed as promised by OakDOT no later than the end of 2020.

Unacceptable- we live in the Bay Area with the highest concentrated wealth in the universe- and drive on roads that are embarrassing and dangerous!
