We, the undersigned residents and taxpayers of Kent Woodlands hereby petition the Marin County Board of Supervisors for immediate redress of decades-long grievances regarding the deplorable and unsafe road surfaces in Kent Woodlands, especially Evergreen Drive. Whereas: 1) Evergreen Drive is a major artery in Kent Woodlands, driven not only by residents but by hundreds of others seeking access to the hiking and biking trails along the Tamalpais ridges; 2) Evergreen Drive has not been repaved for over forty (40) years and presently consists of a patchwork of unsafe, open, broken, uneven and crumbling surfaces; 3) The recent work of the Ross Valley Sanitary District and the Marin Municipal Water District has left Evergreen Drive more cut, patched, uneven and loosened than before the work began; 4) The condition of Evergreen Drive before the recent work was and remains unsafe, cut, patched, uneven and loosened, thus requiring a complete repaving of the entire road from side to side; 5) The deteriorated condition of Evergreen Drive has reduced the property values of all who live along its path, as well as all who live in Kent Woodlands. Now, therefore, the residents of Kent Woodlands petition the County to take all necessary steps to have all of Evergreen Drive repaved forthwith. It is a fundamental obligation of the County to maintain its roads for the safety and enjoyment of its citizens. We, the undersigned, expect the County to meet this obligation without delay.
