The Island Community Board, on behalf of all residents and visitors to Fishers Island, NY, seeks to remedy various infrastructure issues, including roads and sidewalks.
Fishers Island's sidewalks have been in desperate need of repair for decades. A comprehensive report was submitted to the Town of Southold in 2008 & 2009. Few repairs have been made since 2009.
The 2008 report showed that 85% of Fishers Island's sidewalks are in "poor to extremely bad" condition and in need of repair.
These damaged sidewalks present a hazard to all who utilize them on a daily basis. Many residents choose to walk or jog in the street due to the condition of the sidewalks.
