Cottage 7 - sidewalks are dangerous, children and parents with strollers are forced to walk and ride in the streets.

As a parent pushing a stroller the sidewalks are impassable. Please repair them, please please.

I was injured in Feb...walking near Judge Evan's house! I was walking with a friend and one side of sidewalk was level..the other side dropped 3 inches! I really hurt my elbow and hand as I tripped while walking pretty briskly! If I were older or younger it could have been much worse! It took at least 3 weeks for the bruises & cuts to heal! Ouch!

Important to solve this problem before there are any injuries.

This is crucial to the health of the community. The access is limited to so many people who walk to and from town and from one town facility to the next (Library, Grocery Store, Church).

For the safety of pedestrians, dogs, and drivers who try to avoid pedestrians now in the streets due to faulty sidewalks, please fix F.I. sidewalks!

I grew up on Fishers Island and now have mobility issues that make the sidewalks dangerous to navigate and they are in desperate need of repair. I would say that it is very close to being an ADA issue. Please repair them quickly.

Living on Montauk Ave, also home of the only bar on the island, I am familiar with the very common situation of drunk patrons choosing to walk home in the middle of the street, even up a steep hill where oncoming traffic would have no chance to avoid them. Why? Because the sidewalks are so terrible - overgrown, buckled, otherwise compromised, and well known for causing scrapes, bruises, and broken limbs - that it is safer to trust that most drivers know to move slowly around there. In the daylight, it's impossible to push anything but a jogging stroller with suspension around, as a standard stroller would be stopped every few feet at buckles. In addition, many intersections (such as Montauk and the one way street between Union Chapel and the Pequot) lack cutouts that would facilitate use of the sidewalk. Please prioritize the safety of Fishers Island's pedestrians!

Bicycles are our children's primary form of transportation during the summer. Please make Fishers Island sidewalks a priority.

This is a necessary infrastructure project that doesn't need a vote from Congress or any appropriations bill. The significant tax revenues from Fishers Island homeowners and businesses are surely sufficient to justify these important (and overdue) repairs.
