The purpose of this petition is to bring forward a Special General Meeting (SGM) to ascertain whether the FBEU members support the current 50/50 quota process that FRNSW has implemented. The FBEU media release on March 11, 2016 initiated by the executive supported this approach.

The aim of the SGM is to democratically determine whether this is the case by putting it to the members. We as a union support positive change but there are legitimate concerns with the current system that need to be discussed. This meeting will afford members the opportunity to have their opinion and suggest alternative processes that will aim to achieve a target of 50/50 and not a quota based system which limits numbers based on gender.

It's time for 'positive change' for all FBEU members and a unification of firefighters on this issue.
