Our department is at a serious crossroads. We have to stand up for what we feel is right and just for our beloved fire department. We cannot allow someone to “fall into the position” without any input from the firefighters that it effects. We need to express our concerns that the Chief of the fire department has to be appointed after a fair process has taken place. We need to voice these concerns to the members of City Council. If we have 400-500 signatures on this petition, they will have no choice but to listen. I feel as though this is the best way to get our point across. We have to focus our argument towards the hiring process of the fire chief. The past two chiefs have been hired after an extensive search and vetting process. We have to open it up to select the very best person for the future of our department. I know some may have concerns about the Public Safety aspect, but when it boils down to it, the Fire Chief will be the one that has the greatest impact on us as firefighters. We have the chance to all take a stand and help steer our department in the right direction.

I am truly overwhelmed by the momentum behind this because I never imagined so many people would care about our department. This has grown into something far beyond what I thought possible and the credit for that belongs entirely to all of you.

Fire chief does not need to be a political appointee for someone else's benefit he needs to be dedicated to the safety and well-being of the fire fighters under his command.
The Separtmwnt should have input and a Chief should be picked from within that has interest in the city and not just the $150000 pay.
List particular ways the firefighters would choose the new chief. What do the firefighters want their chief to know, what credentials should the new chief have, etc
This department has been in termoil from the day Tippett has come,Its time for a change.
Please listen to the men and women in the fire department. People in charge usually have no clue what is really needed. Please look outside of the box!
Need a good fire chief who will support our fire fighters.
Support the CFD and the right to have a fair process to hire a fire chief.

"Chief" David Griffin is the last person, with his actions at the Sofa Super Store and his subsequent financial profits from that fire is the last person who should be considered for chief of the CFD. ONLY those qualified with experience, leadership abilities and the respect of his peers should be considered for this position.
