PETITION
TO: THE PRESIDING MAGISTRATE
We, the undersigned farmers in the district of Gobabis, Omaheke Region herewith would like to hand this petition against the granting of bail to the following accused persons in the abovementioned matter, namely:
1.Cyprian Nunuheb
2.Amos Kauta
3.Bently Kangotui
The main reasons for us as farmers objecting to the granting of bail are as follows:
a)Most farmers are coming from a drought or are still suffering under unfavourable conditions as a result of the drought where numbers of cattle have been reduced tremendously as a result.
b)Cattle are the livelihood of farmers and being ill treated and stolen on a constant basis.
c)According to information the accused persons (1 & 2) in this matter has slaughtered the cattle and instructed accused 3 to transport the stolen meat.
d)It is more often than not very difficult to apprehend these culprits, specifically when the roadblocks (Police) are of no assistance or co-operating with the accused persons as is alleged to have happened in this matter. Farmers have to rely on Crime Prevention Forums and Reservits to trace culprits at their own expenses.
e)Once accused persons are apprehended, the Courts are releasing accused persons who have pending cases before the Court and/or previous convictions only to allow them to engage in the same criminal conduct over and over again.
f) The aforementioned and the granting of bail to the accused in this matter will be against the public interest and against the administration of justice.
g) Accused number 3 also has at least one pending matter in which he was released on bail.
How many times should he be caught in possession and in transporting stolen meat knowing it to be stolen before he is regarded a danger to the farming public and his conduct against the public interest and before bail is refused to him?
h)Accused 3 knew what he was doing when he loaded the stolen carcasses of cattle along the public road, the property in this instance of Mr. Schalk van der Merwe, acting in common purpose with the killers and slaughters of the said 6 head of cattle.
We as farmers are pleading before the Court to uphold justice not to release these accused persons on bail pending their cases to be finalized as they all
have the propensity to involve themselves in stock theft cases and is a real
danger to the public.
The accused persons are also running the risk that farmers may take law into
their own hands and their lives may be in danger when caught again. They are
not suitable candidates for bail with no intention to stop the trade of stealing stock and selling it on the black market.

The feedback from fellow farmers across the region confirms that the theft of our livestock is not just a financial loss but a direct threat to our way of life. I am currently working to ensure this document reaches the presiding magistrate so that our collective concerns regarding these bail proceedings are formally recognized.
March 11, 2025
The growing momentum behind this petition highlights the deep frustration felt by our farming community regarding the safety of our livestock. It is clear that the preservation of our livelihoods remains a priority that we are not willing to let fade into the background.

Please dont let these crimals loose, they are a danger to all of society, the steal for their own wealth at the cost of other peoples livelyhood.
And with drought, farmers having a input by paid fodder, and then the animals are stolen, slaughtered!???
Stocktheft should be prioritised by the courts as it affects tje livelyhood of not only farmers but also normal citizins. Severe punishment will be required to kerb this crimonal avtivity.
Stock theft and poaching is getting out of hand in Omaheke and they use the most awful ways to kill the animals and most of them are repeat offenders. We cannot let these offenders out on bail, because as farmers we fear for our own animals.
Die manne is ou misdadigers slag oral en daar is nog klomp sake hangend van hulle
No bail.
