The Honourable Court
RE: PETITION OPPOSING THE BAIL APPLICATION OF THE ACCUSED IN THE MURDER OF MONICCA DUBE
We, the undersigned family members, residents, community members and concerned citizens of
Wallmansthal and surrounding communities, respectfully submit this petition to the National
Prosecuting Authority (NPA), South African Police Service (SAPS), and the Honourable Court regarding
the murder case of our beloved late community leader, Monicca Dube.
Monicca Dube was not only a mother and family member; she was a respected community leader who
played an important role in the Wallmansthal community.
Her death has left her family, friends and the wider community devastated. Her loss has affected many
people who knew and respected her and who continue to mourn her.
We respectfully request that the State strongly oppose the accused's application for bail, and that the
Honourable Court carefully consider all relevant circumstances, including the seriousness of the charge, the
interests and safety of the community, the protection of potential witnesses, and the impact that the
alleged offence has had on Monicca Dube's family and the community.
We further request that the investigation and prosecution of this matter be handled thoroughly, fairly and
without unnecessary delay, and that the family and community be kept appropriately informed of
developments in the case.
We are not asking for anyone to be treated unfairly or for justice to be decided outside the courts. We are
asking for due process, accountability, the protection of the community and justice for Monicca
Dube.
OUR PLEA
We therefore respectfully call upon:
-The SAPS to continue conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding
Monicca Dube's death.
The NPA to carefully consider the family's and community's concerns when dealing with the bail
application.
-The Honourable Court to consider the relevant evidence and circumstances when determining the
bail application.
-The authorities to take reasonable steps to protect the family, witnesses and affected community
members where necessary.
-The authorities to ensure that the family receives appropriate information about the progress and
outcome of the bail proceedings.
JUSTICE FOR MONICCA DUBE
She was a mother.
She was a community leader.
She was someone's daughter, sister, friend and neighbour.
Her life mattered.
We respectfully ask that her death not be forgotten and that the criminal justice process be allowed to take
its course.
WE STAND TOGETHER FOR JUSTICE.
JUSTICE FOR MONICCA DUBE.
JUSTICE FOR HER FAMILY.
JUSTICE FOR THE WALLMANSTHAL COMMUNITY.
Justice must be served, and we are fearing the safety of the family, community and witnesses.
