Residents of Eastside housing at Barksdale AFB have communicated amongst each other and have come to an agreement that extending the gate hours would benefit the community both for personal reasons and in case of any potential emergencies. Having to drive an extra 15 minutes to main base is a burden on those who work or have children, and in cases of medical emergencies, the difference between life or death. Please sign if you agree that having the gate hours changed to 24/7 would benefit you and those around you!

Reaching this level of support confirms that I am not the only one feeling the daily strain of these restricted gate hours. It is exhausting to fight for basic access, but seeing this momentum grow makes the effort feel necessary.

Keeping the Bodcau Gate open will allow for faster travel to hospitals when emergencies happen. It will also prevent families traveling late at night to drive into Shreveport(a higher crime area) just to access the West Gate. East Reservation residents easily have 15-30 minutes of travel added to a drive if they have an emergency or if they are tired from driving long distances(i.e. PCSing). Opening the Bodcau Gate 24/7 will overall make living safer for East Reservation residents.
Please consider Bodcau gate being 24 hours. It’s a big inconvenience to the residents on the East side to have to drive 10 miles to exit base.
There have been many times where we need to take our children to the ER in the middle of the night and driving all the way to main gate is not safe with all the critters crossing. Also I have to clock in to work before 6am and getting up an extra hour early is not feasible just to take main gate when I work in Haughton.
I would love to see the hours extended. This past Thursday I arrived at the gate at 9:59 pm and the gate was already closed I know it was 1 minute til but my son had a football game and we had to drive all the way around to get home it took and extra 45 mins. Having to be cautious of what I do so I don’t have to drive all the way around is a downfall at times
It’s scary to think if my special needs has an emergency outside of gate hours an ambulance would have to travel 15+ minutes to a different gate.
Please make the gate 24 hours

Even Earlier times during the weekdays for those that work off base so they don’t have to drive all the way across base to then drive backwards. Turning a 10 minute commute into a 30-40 minute one.
