I think this is long overdue. Most of you by now know about the fire in Shamrock Shores. We have been here for over 2 years and have seen the junk yards not get any attention from the county. These yards are an eyesore, decrease neighborhood property values and now are proven to be a public safety issue. The junk imposes on the public roads. The junk creates fuel for fires and obstacles for the fire department, which also creates an additional danger to their safety. The junk also creates a refuge for wild animals to take up residence. People are at risk here, homes are at risk here, properties are at risk here. This has gone on long enough.I feel that since the county has been less than sufficient in helping that we need to have a petition that wakes them up. I am heartbroken for all those who were directly affected by the fire. Let's not let something like this happen again.
