When someone summons 911 for an ambulance, they expect to have someone show up and take them to the hospital to be treated. However, more and more, EMS agencies and Emergency Rooms are being pushed to the brink with non-emergent patients who utilize 911 because they get faster results. These are people who utilize it just simply because it\'s faster, not because they require immediate attention. They could go to a private physician or to a non-emergency clinic, or drive by car to an emergency room and wait in line, but they choose to call 911 and be transported by ambulance. I am hoping to use this petition to make lawmakers aware that EMS Transport laws and protocols need to be adjusted to allow EMS providers more availability to provide medical treatment to individuals who really require it.

I am an EMT and have watched the EMS system in my local area get seriously overloaded with calls for patients who don\'t necessarily need to be taken to an emergency department. They may need medical attention, but not from an ambulance or Emergency Room. Options could be made available to residents such as transport to Urgent Care facilities, or requests for transport from non-emergency transport companies, to allow them medical treatment without causing ER\'s to burst at the seams, or having ambulances tied up in calls that they aren\'t really required.
