911 calls for ambulances in Austin, TX are being dispatched to APD before and instead of ATCEMS and police are arriving and detaining people, arresting people or fatally shooting mental health patients during the medical emergency. Austin, TX has been in the news for having the highest rate of people being shot during mental health calls and in medical emergencies ambulances not arriving on time. Ambulances are arriving extremely late or not at all to Priority 1 Medical emergencies and instead people are being subject to aggressive and interrogatory tactics by Austin Police including - illegal search and seizure and violations of civil liberties, patient triage and HIPAA privacy laws (police are prevented by law to ID you or question you during a medical emergency), rights, injury, and loss of life during life threatening medical emergencies. As in RGW and DTW 11/11/18 (click link)

Help save lives by helping us draw attention to this life threatening public safety issue and help restore a broken system which is hindering our first responder heroes - medics, police and firefighters.

Updates

March 8, 2022

I spent the last hour reading all the new stories you guys are posting and it just breaks my heart how many people have dealt with police instead of medics during a total medical crisis. It honestly feels like this whole system is just spinning out of control and I am trying to figure out the right way to get this in front of officials who will actually listen because the current approach is just not working at all.

Claimed donations must be reported to IRS as 501(c)(3). Ref: IRS Form 3949-A IRS Form 13909 Misrepresentation to the public or the IRS is bad business.... Quit hiding these posts. "You're a coward" - Zachary

Things need to change fast in this city and all over the country, really. Emergency Response is not close to as efficient or helpful as it should be...sometimes it can be outright predatory. I have had horrific experiences with both APD and EMS in Austin, TX

The right to due-process has totally been abolished here in Travis County and no thanks to Greg Abbott.

My son had a seizure and the cops showed up with guns drawn instead of medics. It is absolutely terrifying what is happening in this city. We pay taxes for help not for this nightmare.

Too many people getting hurt because the wrong responders are showing up. Fix the dispatch systems before someone else dies.
