In 1991, Emmerson Anthony Roberts beat raped and strangled 7 year old Melissa Basterache in his home on Whitney Avenue in Moncton.Her body was found hidden in a closet. Melissa's family is fighting to keep her killer locked up and will attend Roberts' parole hearing in Bath, Ontario next week. In a victim impact statment obtained by the Times and Transcript, Basterache's aunt Gail Daigle says her niece's killer will never fully pay for his evil crime and she's certain he will rot in hell. Prior to their trip, Melissa's family will gather names on petition, from those who also feel Roberts should be kept behind bars. When the police interviewed the children in the park a block away, 14 other children said they had been in his home before. I was 6 years old when this happened, I couldn't do anything then.
