In 2013, Ian Charles Borbely was convicted for the brutal murder of Samantha Collins. He was sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole for 17 years. Now, only 11 years into his sentence, he is being moved to a lower security prison near his home and might potentially be granted unsupervised day passes to leave the prison. This is a gross miscarriage of justice and a slap in the face to Samantha's memory and to all victims of violent crimes.
We are launching this petition to ensure that Ian Borbely serves the full duration of his sentence without these undeserved privileges. We need your help to influence the court's decision and ensure that Samantha's murderer is kept behind bars where he belongs.
Why is this important?
By signing this petition, you are not just supporting Samantha's cause; you are standing up against all forms of violence and advocating for justice for all victims. You are sending a message that violent criminals should be held accountable for their actions and that our justice system should not falter in ensuring this accountability.

Petition Letter:
Dear Registrar,
We, the undersigned, are deeply concerned about the recent developments in the case of Ian Charles Borbely, who was convicted in 2013 for the brutal murder of Samantha Collins. We understand that Borbely is being moved to a lower security prison and might potentially be granted unsupervised day passes to leave the prison, only 11 years into his sentence.
This is a gross miscarriage of justice. Samantha Collins was a victim of a heinous crime, and her murderer should serve the full duration of his sentence without any privileges. We urge you to reconsider this decision and ensure that Borbely is kept behind bars where he belongs.
We stand together for justice, for Samantha, and for all victims of violent crimes. We believe that violent criminals should be held accountable for their actions and that our justice system should not falter in ensuring this accountability.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Sincerely,
Samantha's friends, family, and all who demand justice on behalf of those who have loved, and been loved by someone taken too soon. These signatories represent a collective voice seeking justice for Samantha Collins and demanding accountability for violent criminals.

No mercy was shown to Samatha! He took away her right to a beautiful life m, her right to see her children grow up, her right to be a grandmother one day!! So her killer should NOT the right to early day parole or any parole! He lost that privilege when he took a life!
As a victim of domestic violence who survived, it horrifies me to think the law fails victims more times than not. This man is evil beyond words and should never be allowed in a lesser security facility or the privilege of ever being allowed to have “day trips” outside of jail. This is an insult to the victim and her family.
Ian Borbely should serve ALL of his time at a maximum security facility, nowhere near the Huntsville or Muskoka area. The murder he committed was brutal and sadistic. Her family and friends should not be in the vicinity of where he could possibly obtain Fay passes. Keep him locked up for the full term imposed by the judge.
It’s bad enough that a life sentence doesn’t mean life in Canada but to release him to a lower security prison and perhaps an early release is disgusting, disrespectful to the victim and her family. I’m sure if this was a politicians loved one this wouldn’t even be an option. Shame on our system and those responsible for it
Ian was convicted by a jury. He has not shown any signs if remorse and still claims he is innocent. Ian does not deserve to have such privelages. Ease keep him in Maximum Security and do not allow him day passes.
I am a friend of her aunt Darlene it has totally destroyed her life and has taken a big part of her life he should never be allowed out of jail after taking so much away from everyone from her children and her family please keep them in jail
I pray for everyone involved and I hope closure will help you heal.

Make him do his 17 years in MAXIMUM SECURITY PRISON, for the SAFETY of the public, and the fact that the VICTIM NOT GET ANY LENIENCY OR GET TO EXPERIENCE LIFE TO THE FULLEST. RESPECT THE VICTIM AND THE VICTIMS FAMILY TO NOT HAVE TO RELIVE THIS HORRIFIC EXPERIENCE
