We recently learned WCPSS school board is considering Plan C -remote learning ONLY and are voting this Tuesday, July 21st 1:00 p.m. This petition is created for individuals of Wake County to have a VOICE in our children's future! We strongly believe our children deserve and desperately need in-person instruction, 5 days per week beginning August 17, 2020.
We strongly believe WCPSS can provide a safe school environment according to Strong Schools NC Public Health Tool Kit(K-12).
We believe there is an achievement gap due to being denied access to in-person instruction, lack of supervision and lack of support to learn. We understand some families need Plan C- remote learning, as they are uncomfortable with sending their children to school. This should be an option for those families; however, we believe our children NEED in-person instruction in order to succeed with their academics. Many parents this spring learned that virtual learning does not work.
We believe keeping schools closed poses a greater health threat to children than reopening. We also believe it is imperative for schools to be open in order to avoid decline in mental health, provide for proper nutrition, provide a stable environment, avoid decline for at-risk students and allow monitoring of abuse and/or neglect.

ive been reading through all the stories people are posting about how hard remote learning has been for their kids and it is honestly heartbreaking to see how much everyone is struggling. im working on getting these signatures directly to the board members so they cant ignore the reality of what families in this county actually need right now.

My up coming 5th grade daughter has learning disabilities and needs at least some in person instruction otherwise I believe she won't be a successful in her learning.
My child needs the in person opportunity not only because he is new to the area he is also adjusting to the US. I struggle to help him because I am used to the UK curriculum. He needs in person instruction to guide him.
As a wake county student going into my jr year I can not imagine the hardest year of my schooling to be over a computer screen it just doesn’t make sense
We really need in person school since my husband and I work full time outside of the home. It is not fair to those that cannot be home to have our teenagers learning full time at home with no supervision. With percentage of families doing Virtual Academy at 40% and rising this will reduce numbers in the classroom greatly.
My children’s mental health is as important as their physical health. My children cannot learn virtually, they are not wired that way. Please consider in-person instruction.
middle school kids need to be in school too. Crucial socialization at this age. Especially 8th graders going into HS. They need that boost.
My son needs his teachers in person.

How can all these other school including ur own magnet schools figure out a plan but u cant?? At least give a T/Th W/F option w remote learning on Mondays just like raleigh charter. Please!!! Be sensible!!!
