The Brookfield East Junior Basketball program has been failing over the past 6 years and it has to be dealt with. The Junior program has had the unfortunate misrepresentation during this time and it's only going to continue to get worse. Neighboring basketball programs can not deal with our Director and their actions against our program over the last few years is a huge indicator of where we stand within these surrounding programs. We have been misled under this leadership and the disrespect to it's players and parents and counterparts has no place in our district. The continued "my way or the highway" mentality just doesn't work well when you're trying to get parents, players and sponsors behind your program. We have been lied to about funds, we cannot get any questions answered about the program, our views have been ignored and our caring about the future of our kids has been put on the backburner because it's not "THEIR AGENDA." A Junior program is brought about to build skills of younger players in a structured manner, to get them involved in sports that they may enjoy playing in High School, to build a talent pool to be competitive, and to create excitement within that specific program or sport. We have not done any of these topics currently and in fact we are driving people away from the Junior programs AND unfortunately it has bled into the High School basketball program as well. There have been players that have left, not tried out for the HS team intentionally and have given up on the HS team because of the way these programs are related and how they are shared views. High school sports are to be the most important years of a student athletes life because most kids do not continue after their 4 years of HS. We therefore believe that the Director of the Junior Basketball program should be relieved of his duties 100% and that the entire basketball program should rethink it's priorities and agenda. While we recognize changes can be drastic or drawn out to correct, we feel that removal of the Director or staff that share his views, would not be a drastic change but actually a positive step for the future. The future of the East Student athlete basketball player and program are at stake and needs to be addressed.
