We the undersigned, are petitioning the Atlanta City Council, as stewards of the city of Atlanta, to enact a law -as expeditiously as possible- that establishes downtown Atlanta as a neighborhood parking district.  Further, we also petition you to afford the option to Atlanta downtown residents to purchase downtown parking permits that are of a similar cost to currently established neighborhood parking districts, including those of Ansley Park, Atkins Park, Home Park, Inman Park, MidTown, Piedmont Heights, Summer Hill, Vine City and Virginia Highlands).  Residents of downtown Atlanta have invested and continue to invest a significant amount of financial and non-financial resources to the development and prosperity of downtown Atlanta.  The addition of the new parking enforcement entity, Park Atlanta, has introduced an element into the everyday lives of downtown Atlanta residents that creates an aggravating inconvenience for the downtown residents of Atlanta who have already invested much in the resurgence and improvement of dowtown Atlanta.  The establishment of a neighborhood parking district in downtown Atlanta and accompanying parking permits would create additional revenue for the city of Atlanta, while at the same time protecting downtown Atlanta residents from having to employ a "look-out-for-parking-enforcement" mentality when street parking is necessary.  We thank you for your consideration of this petition, and look forward to your action on this matter.
