The Trustees finally rejected the application for 48 Lincoln and reaffirmed the historic character of our neighborhood. I am incredibly relieved that our community remains intact and protected from these massive structures. We must stay alert to ensure these developers respect the original spirit of our home.

Voice your concern and sign this petition in opposition to the Trustee and ARB approval of any out-of-scale homes in the historic Sag Harbor neighborhoods of Sag Harbor Hills, Azurest and Ninevah. The Special Permit process, allowing homes above 4000 sq. ft., threatens the integrity and character of our community.

Recently, the application for 48 Lincoln in Ninevah was turned over by the Trustee Board to the ARB despite the objections of many of the neighbors in the immediate and larger Sag Harbor Village community. Approval of this application sets a very threatening precedent and scope creep not just for Sag Harbor Hills, Azurest, and Ninevah subdivisions (SANS) –- a community historically referred to as “Cottages by the Bay” -- but also for ALL properties and neighborhoods with historically modest, middle class homes. The combination of lots in these quiet, rustic neighborhoods encourage and foster McMansion compounds under the new GFA Code. These out-of-scale structures will have grave implications to ambiance and sense of neighborhood and community

This confirms my opposition to any approval of out-of-scale building in SANS such as the house planned for 48 Lincoln Street in Ninevah. The proposed house is inconsistent with the character and scope of the neighborhood. This inconsistency is reinforced by the Interscience Research Report, commissioned by the Village, which showed an average house size of 1400 square feet in the contiguous neighborhoods of Sag Harbor Hills, Azurest and Ninevah.

To the Trustee and ARB ~ Why isn't Sag Harbor Village, the Trustee and the ARB following the same zoning standards as the Village of North Haven when it comes to combining multible lots !!!??? http://ecode360.com/8078582 4000 sq. ft. = 4000 sq.ft. .period!!
I've seen the plans for the property that my grandparents first purchased in 1955, the first of 3 to build in Ninevah. My heart aches to know that this property will soon fall into the hands of someone who has no regard for the historical integrity of this corner of what was once a little paradise for my family.
It is imperative that recently enacted zoning codes be followed as rigorously as possible. Not only that but when necessary the applicable village boards must act in a manner that bears in mind what is in the best interests of the village and what we want it to look like--whether actually codified or not.
I've had the privilege and pleasure of visiting family in Sag Harbor Hills since the 1950's and it would be offensive to see it's unique character shoved aside for these disproportionately large homes that are proposed.
I want to see the landscape and housing structures to remain as they have for the past 50 years. I do not want to see McMansions being built which will incur a greater tax burden on the families who have lived in the Sag Harbor Hills, Azurest and Ninevah neighborhoods for many, many years.
This is an area I would like to stay around. Not just for history but a place I as an African American woman be able to vacation with my family here.
I wish I lived in a community like this, preserve what you have, it's worth more than all the money in the world

I live at 35 Carver Street in the Village. We need a maximum house size in this tiny village. Even Sagaponack has a maximum house size. A cottage is not a mansion and respect for the history of a community is honorable while the lack of respect is without honor.
