The management committee just confirmed the centre and cafe will remain open. I am exhausted by this fight but relieved that our doors are staying unlocked for the neighborhood. We should stay alert to ensure they stick to this promise but for tonight the space is safe.

Dear Bonnington Centre Management Committee

I am writing to you to show my support for both Bonnington Centre and Bonnington Café.

I heard that there is possibility of closing both. I strongly believe that it would be a huge loss for whole community, not only local, but on the bigger scale.

The café and the centre make an important contribution to the life of many diverse communities – for the residents, visitors and workers who relax and share food together. It is a common home. It is a multicultural community of our new economy, a working example of how a collective of chefs can co-create a successful business whilst maintaining values of affordability and sustainability. It is an international community of musicians and artists who play here or exhibit and represents what is great about London.

Please reconsider your decision to close down that beautiful place.

We hit 2,500 names today and my head is spinning from the sheer weight of it all. It has been an exhausting uphill climb to get here but reading your stories about the cafe keeps me moving forward. We are not giving up on the centre yet.

Reaching this point has been an exhausting uphill climb but seeing this level of momentum proves that this space is worth the struggle. I have been running on little sleep and a lot of doubt lately yet the weight of this support keeps me going forward.

For many years now the Bonnington has allowed me to put on an annual Burns supper and poetry evening at low cost to enable many to join in this cultural occasion. I would be terribly sad to see this excellent community venue be lost to developers.

I have known the Bonnington Cafe since the 1980's and it is the beating heart of the most unique and inspiring square in London. The cafe must be kept as a community run initiative and not be changed it into just another commercial food outlet.

Shocking. Yet a mother example of gentrification. For 7 years, I hosted a community lunch for people in recovery. It was perfect and allowed an opportunity for people to engage and give back. We we were always given a warm welcome and great healthy food.

Apart from just being a great little cafe, one of the main reasons for it's success is that it is run by different people every evening - that's what makes it unique! Please don't close it or pass it on to some sort of corporate or management team to run.

This would be a huge loss to the community. I have used the centre to run grief workshops over the years. Without this centre many people will not be able to continue to run events which mean that they are affordable to cert members of the community.

I feel this cafe is part of my history. I was so delighted to see it was still open when I returned to London a few years ago. My babies came here and now grown up my daughter told me she did yoga here the other day. Please keep the venue open

A unique unpretentious cafe that has been around for decades, sincerely hope it remains. Super that the upstairs is now a varied centre of uses. I was part of weekly drum centre there before turn of the century.
