Don't be Road-Kill at FIKE

Petition Created By: Kristi Antunes and Brooke Doolittle

Target Goal: Improve the congestion at Fike in terms of transportation and pedestrian safety.

It is our ultimate goal to highlight the need of a stop sign and crosswalk at the intersection of Heisman Street and Williamson Drive.
Heisman Street runs in front of Fike, and Williamson Drive runs to the left of the entrance to Fike. This area is always very congested between vehicles parallel parking, students leaving campus, students coming toward campus, as well as driving or walking to Fike. Not only is this a blind spot for vehicles coming over the hill, but also it is very dangerous for pedestrians that are crossing the street.
It is our interest to improve the safety of this area by placing two stop signs on each side of Williamson Drive where it connects to Heisman Street.
This will create a 3-way stop instead of the current single stop sign that is in place at the end of Heisman Street prior to entering the busy congestion on Williamson Drive. Along with the stop signs that would be put in place, we would also advocate for a painted cross walk in the road that would allow pedestrians to safely cross the street from the Heisman Street side to the other side of Williamson Drive.

We want to advocate for safety among pedestrians as well as vehicles that travel this area of campus on a daily basis. It is necessary to prevent unwanted accidents before they happen among students, faculty, and visitors on Clemson’s Campus.

This petition has been created to get the overall support for our area of interest when targeting our student population of Clemson University . We appreciate your support and would appreciate any feedback you wish to provide!
