As of September 2015, we would like to see if Doddinghurst Junior School would consider introducing a white shirt and tie.
The proposal is for new Year 3 pupils to wear white shirts and ties as of September 2015 when they join the school and for the Year 4, 5 & 6 pupils to continue wearing the gold polo shirts until they either leave, wear out or grow out of their polo shirts. Another additional option is for them to maybe be allowed to use the gold polo shirts as part of their P.E kit.
Some of the parent/carers from both the Infants and Juniors have voiced that they would welcome the change for the following reasons:
- A white shirt and tie would be in keeping with the Doddinghurst Infant school uniform and unify the schools together.
This will result in a simpler transition for the Infants into the Juniors as they are already confident and accustom to wearing the shirt and tie. This will also benefit the Juniors in the future when they eventually move up to Secondary School.
- A white shirt and tie would be more cost effective for all parent/carers.
The new Year 3 pupils will already have the white shirts, thus only requiring a new tie which works out much cheaper than the multiple gold polo shirts they would need to buy. For the Year 4, 5 & 6 the average cost of a white shirt from clothing outlets is much cheaper than the gold polo shirts purchased via the school.
- The pupils overall appearance will be much smarter and this will improve the reputation of the school.
At present, the Juniors gold polo shirts can look mix and match as polo shirts not purchased via the school are not the same shade of colour.
If you would like to see if this change is possible and support the above, then please sign our petition and hopefully we can encourage this change to maybe take place.
