We, the undersigned, request:
- Please do not convert the 3 Mitchell Park lighted tennis courts to Pickleball courts, as those courts are well used by the Palo Alto tennis community.
- Prior to the use of Palo Alto financial resources for Pickleball courts, we feel that the tennis courts at Rinconada and Cubberley should be resurfaced as they have not been properly maintained and have become unsafe.

I really thought this might just be a small neighborhood thing but looking at the response today makes me realize people actually care about our tennis courts as much as I do. It is wild how fast this is moving and honestly seeing everyone agree that we need to fix the other parks first is just so validating.

I am particularly concerned about removing courts with lights from the city's inventory of tennis courts. Pickleball is played by mostly elderly people who do not play at night. Rethink how to satisfy sensibly the needs of both tennis and pickleball players. Thank you.
I have nothing against pickleball, I am just wondering why Palo Alto needs to foot the bill for this and why now? If the City has discretionary funds to do this work that is not in our plan, then perhaps other projects that are underfunded should occur first.
Currently, the existing courts (Cubberly & Rinconada) are extremely unsafe and which increases the city's liability due to the fact there have been multiple serious injuries occured on the courts. So the city should be prudent about spending the taxpayers money by ensuring all existing courts are safe !
I play tennis every week at Mitchell Park with 8 other 60+ women. We have done this for 20 years. In the summers there are always people waiting on courts to play in the evening, so the demand exists. I challenge the Parks department to provide a win-win for both the tennis and pickleball communities. It is certainly doable.
I and my children play at Mitchell Park tennis courts very often. Because the courts are always so crowded, we often times need to wait a long time or just give up and go home. Please do not remove the lit tennis courts please!

My comment is only about the 3 lower courts at Mitchell. I have participated in a Friday morning senior mens doubles game for over 25 years. These courts should NOT be converted to pickelball only - I see no reason that these courts can not support both tennis and pickleball. We do it now.
