As an alumnus of Binghamton University, I am disheartened to see that money donated by myself and other alumni is being invested without full transparency. In the past Binghamton University has claimed to be fully divested from fossil fuels. However, I feel that if Binghamton University was truly not invested in any morally reprehensible industries then Binghamton University’s investment portfolio would be fully transparent.

I will not continue to financially support the Binghamton Foundation as I do not want my donations invested in fossil fuels, weapons of mass murder, prison labor, or any other industries that further these types of oppression. If I am going to donate to this foundation then I expect to know exactly where my money is going. I do not want to be complicit in the murder of those killed by corporations such as Lockheed Martin and BAE systems that are financially supported by the Binghamton Foundation. Furthermore, I do not support Sodexo’s exploitation of the prison system, which is also backed by the Binghamton Foundation.
