The council has confirmed that the ditch and mound project for Lower Halliford Green will proceed as we requested. This outcome provides the permanent security our community needs to protect the space moving forward. I appreciate the steady focus you maintained throughout this process.

This is the fourth time in 3 months travellers have encamped on Lower Halliford Green and/or Bishop Duppas Park. There are no defences against an encampment currently on Lower Halliford Green and those that were on Bishop Duppas Park were breached and destroyed by travellers on 22nd August. Those are currently being replaced with stronger concrete posts with steel poles at low level, embedded in concrete.

The matter now arises as to how Lower Halliford Green can be permanently protected from such an encampment again.

The proposal is to ditch and mound the outer stretches of the green, including the borders with the private drive of the private house on Lower Halliford Green.

Please sign and share to anyone in Shepperton who agrees with this.

Not only in the interests of the residents but also an economy for the council who have to spend hundreds each time clearing up after the travellers leave

This open area must be protected urgently. Suggestions above sound like an excellent, simple solution.

They caused such hassles with the nursery my children attend, never want to repeat this experience!

This needs to be done for the elderly resisdents that use the park for access and walking their dogs.

Travellers setting up camp on Lower Halliford Green/Duppas Park has become a regular occurrence & this needs to stop for the sake of the local residents who are fed up feeling intimidated/unnerved whilst they are there & then deeply upset when they've gone with the amount of mess & destruction they leave behind.

Another encampment could appear at any time, we really need to act quickly on this and stop it ever happening again. Bishop Duppas Park resident

We need something done about the travelers that keep landing on the green in Russel road! They make a mess and make the whole place look a mess. How do these people get away with it, when we have to pay large amounts of money for the pleasure of living here

It is essential that much more permanent barricades are built to deter the entry of the caravans and cars which have driven roughshod through gates and wooden posts in the past. The damage they've caused is massive to local land and gardens and also dangerous with fires. Apart from the ditch and mound proposals which would deter caravans from entering, if they were deep enough it should be impossible. Also ,visually, this would not detract from the view across Russell Road and a small portion for people wanting to walk into Bihop Duppas Park could be left for them to enter where no ditch and mound existed. Any preventative fencing MUST be iron railings, as I know from past experience, having lived right next to the park for 30years, wooden posts are absolutely no deterrent.
