We need something done about the travelers that keep landing on the green in Russel road! They make a mess and make the whole place look a mess. How do these people get away with it, when we have to pay large amounts of money for the pleasure of living here

It is essential that much more permanent barricades are built to deter the entry of
the caravans and cars which have driven roughshod through gates and wooden posts in the past. The damage they've caused is massive to local land and gardens and also
dangerous with fires. Apart from the ditch and mound proposals which would deter
caravans from entering, if they were deep enough it should be impossible. Also ,visually, this would not detract from the view across Russell Road and a small portion for people wanting to walk into Bihop Duppas Park could be left for them to enter where no ditch and mound existed. Any preventative fencing MUST be iron railings, as
I know from past experience, having lived right next to the park for 30years, wooden posts are absolutely no deterrent.

Like most of the commentators here, I would wholeheartedly agree that something needs to be done to stop future incursions. I live in Clerics Walk, just opposite Bishop Duppas Park and love the view from our house. I think we need to be careful that any defence chosen doesn't deface the lovely open views that everyone enjoys - could we not look at other options employed elsewhere, such as concrete-set wooden bollards set strategically at the perimeters? I'm not clear on what the 'ditch and mound' option would look like but I would not want it to deface the area - and potentially make entry to the park difficult for local residents, dog walkers and the like.

They are scum and have no place on lands paid for and funded by us the British tax Payer. Bloody disgrace the government allow these dirty disrespectful so called people to roam the lands not paying taxes and causing a mini crime wave everytime they roll into towns. DISGRACE AND NEEDS TO STOP!

Nothing is set in concrete...yet. All Shepperton residents are allowed to have their say. Just to let you know. The travellers drove through and obliterated the knee high border to gain access in Bishop Duppas Park road. Bunding (as it is formally known) is a known successful deterrent and can be viewed at Walton Lane, Shepperton and Laleham Park. Caravans cannot access when this is in place, although pedestrians, bikes and wheelchairs are still able to access easily

I live on Russell Road and wholeheartedly oppose a ditch and mound solution. Happy to have the same reinforced concrete fence posts with steel bars but absolutely not an ugly ditch and mound. I would ask you kindly to reword your petition to ask for a solution in line with the rest of Shepperton rather than subject the Russell Road residents to such an ugly, eye sore of a solution. I would happily sign and join your campaign if you are able to do this. Please consider this a genuine request, I really want something done but not this. Thank you

I live on this stretch of BDP and absolutly oppose an ugly ditch and mound.... the people who actually live on the Russell Road park front want a say in the solution, such as extending the knee high fence from Walton lane down along the Russell road length, or fence posts as used in the green opposite esso, both have been used successfully in other areas of shepperton! We strongly want something to stop the traveller groups more than anyone, but don't want an the ugly ditch and mound outside our windows which unfortunately this petition is calling for and being supported by people who don't consider the impact of this solution on the people who it will affect the most! Sorry but can't sign this and such a shame that the petition is being written with this set solution without leaving that open for further discussion. Completely support knee high fence extension and fence poles spaced appropriately!

This needs to be done ASAP, it's not right that we should suffer because of someone else's ignorance & selfish actions. Lets keep Shepperton a lovely peaceful place to live.

My family were held captive in our homes by these travellers. They we're unlike any others. They broke into the park by destroying the gate in BDP and there is CCTV footage of them doing so. They drove 4x4's and quad bikes at speed on the park outside our homes on the park at all times of day and night. We did not sleep for three nights, we were unable to leave our homes. They set fires in at least two areas of the park, one against a residents private wall which set their tree slight. They terrorised the nursery by throwing stones at the windows and setting off the fire alarms. On 23/08 the nursery was evacuated 3 times. The fire brigade were called in evening due to the smell of fire in the air. The area outside our homes, 10 yards from our homes. We watched activities from our bedroom windows 24 hrs a day and only came out if police or law enforcement were there. They drive at speed 50, 60 mph down BDP road into the park and we are a cul de sac. There was no way out. I can't explain to you the constant feeling of fear, helplessness and devastation felt by the occupants of the 8 little houses on Bishop Duppas Park. It will take me a long time to feel safe again
