Over the past few months Queens Street in Kensington Johannesburg, has seen a marked deterioration. A lot of this deterioration is due to the fact that the street has not been maintained - the road surface has deteriorated dramatically, the drainage system is in decline and pavements are deteriorating weekly. As residents we are concerned about the state of Queens Street, and petition the Johannesburg Metropolitan Council to take some action to reverse this deterioration as a matter of urgency.

Poorly maintained road surface, I stopped driving down Queen street as a result.
The Council of Johannesburg and especially the JRA need to start prioritising this area of Johannesburg. We pay our rates and our streets, pavements and storm water infrastructure is appalling to say the least. We report things not once, not twice but many times and NOTHING is being done to fix things and when they are "fixed" they often are worse than before. Time to wake up and do your jobs and send out inspectors to vouch the repairs done by the crews and subcontractors before logging the matters as complete. Class Action Law Suits will be the next step the residents embark upon.
Queen Street is a main arterial, shopping and leisure street in Kensington. It's essential for it to be maintained in good order. Please sort out the problems there as a matter of urgency.
I don't drive thru Queen Street Kensington because of the neglected state of the road and sidewalks. I'm glad I don't have a business in Queen Street! I drive thru Greenside on my way to work and am extremely jealous. Greenway Street has been resurfaced with parkings marked and the road markings are done too! What a pleasure to drive to work. Come on Johannesburg Metropolitan Council our suburb needs the same attention.
Please repair the road, my daughters school is off Queens street and dropping her off is a nightmare in the mornings because of the way people are forced to drive.
The overlarge signs for SEX shops don't help!

They have become a traffic hazard as one has to drive around some of the problems and into oncoming traffic . This in certain sections.
