Daventry Council must improve management of grass cutting
Grass cutting together with shrub and tree maintenance within Daventry area have been subjected to reduced standards over recent years and longer periods between maintenance, particularly since the service has been contracted out. After trying to motivate the council services manager and also the council leader to get involved in improving the standards, then trying to also motivate the local councillors and our MP, none have openly agreed it is currently unacceptable and none have committed to working towards a resolution with the contractor. Even after I have contacted them all many times over they still have not done anything constructive. Unfortunately I have been subjected to lip service and 'fob offs' and in the case of the council leader, I have been ignored.
I have been pursuing this since April, strangely the local tory councillor, who initially contacted me and came to visit has done nothing since being re-elected in May. I hope now with the support of local residents in signing this petition the council will actually do something and start to improve the aesthetics of our town, also not forgetting that we already pay for it as part of the council tax. On this subject the central government restricion on increasing our council tax has also already been used as an excuse, less money to spend. This isn't a reason to not do a job.
Please sign the petition, strength in numbers is the only way to be heard. As I now know, one man is ignored.
