We, the parents, grandparents, friends and the community of School District 6 are formally petitioning the School Board and School Superintendent, Dave Wick to:
- Immediately cease all formal & informal decision making or discussions pertaining to the upcoming 2021- 2022 SD6 school year including, but not limited to the pandemic, implementing mandates, procedures, vaccines, guidelines and more UNTIL we the people & parents have been heard and are fully included. Our feedback must be made priority immediately.
- Formal decisions will only be made AFTER hearing from us as a community. We are in unprecedented times and dealing with very sensitive topics. Every community is different, it is not a one-size-fits-all. The only true and accurate way to ensure the decisions reflect our community is by including us beforehand.
- All members of our SD6 board and Superintendent, Dave Wick, immediately facilitate setting up an in- person, community meeting to hear and involve all our parents & community in these discussions & decisions.
- An email must be sent out promptly by SD6, to all parents and guardians immediately informing them of the this upcoming meeting and asking for full participation.
- An online "Back to School/ Pandemic Plan Survey" (survey/questionnaire/poll) is created and sent out immediately to all parents and guardians at SD6 to ensure everyone is heard and included if they are not able to attend the meeting in-person. Results will be made and shared publicly and all names and personal information MUST be kept private. This will be in conjunction with the community meeting. The online survey will have questions directly pertaining to the issues listed above in # one.
The role of the school board is to ensure that school districts are responsive to the values, beliefs and priorities of their communities.The most important responsibilities of school boards is to work with their communities & to improve student achievement in their local public schools.Members of the school board are elected to work for the parents.
Parents do not give up their fundamental rights when their children walk into a public school. No one has signed over their authority to the local school district. Parent involvement in their kids' education has far-reaching benefits.
In closing, we ask you to hear our voices and make decisions that include community and parental Involvement within the boundaries of your legal authority as a school board.

We are approaching one hundred signatures and the School Board is still pretending we do not exist. Force Dave Wick to see that we are not going away quietly by getting this petition in front of every parent in the district today.

I work at a daycare in town and it’s sad to watch the children struggle with the masks. It is also hard for the teachers to keep repeating themselves about putting their masks on and the right way. It would be amazing to see the kids smiles again!
We should also have consistency between both elementary schools in the district. Parents of Glacier Gateway were allowed on campus last year, had in person activities in the building. Ruder did not. The schools are 1.5 miles apart, they should have similar practices.
My son’s kindergarten year was eating lunch in his classroom, no field trips, no yearbook. He doesn't even know what a lunch room is because of Covid. Stop taking away the fun experience we all had as kids in school. Isn’t school supposed to be fun? Not a prison with shields between desks and masks! As a parent let us decide our children’s health.
A school board meeting needs to be held before any vote is taken. All voices need to be heard to make an informed decision by the board.
I aree, the board must listen to the community and parents of the children you intend on teaching. These are our children and the board is to serve our interests.
We are now 18 months into this "pandemic". I went along with all the mandates in the beginning and throughout the school year last year because I didn't know how bad it was going to be. I wore my mask, practiced the distancing, and was respectful of those in fear. Personally, I come at it from an immune perspective. We have proven immune support supplements that can keep this virus from becoming systemic, Vitamin D being one of them. I personally know about 115 people that have "tested" positive for this virus, none with any serious effects, and all of them not taking vitamin D. Why are the homeless communities not lying dead all over the place in large cities? I'm over it. My child has suffered enough with going through a whole school year of never seeing a single teacher's smile, and the effects of being psychologically manipulated will be with her for the rest of her life. I'm done with all this crap, and I'm ready to fight.
