I support the concept of installing a raised crosswalk at Winthrop & George Streets in the Medford Hillside area, with the intent of calming traffic, increasing the visibility of people crossing the street, and increasing the safety of our children and all our residents.
The photo below shows a raised crosswalk in Somerville, just to provide a visual image of the type of structure we will be pursuing. We do not yet know what our crosswalk will look like, and it might not look similar to this one.

I have been reviewing the feedback regarding traffic patterns at Winthrop and George Streets. This input helps refine our proposal for municipal officials who will soon review the project requirements.

Way too many near misses at this corner. A raised crossing would actually force people to pay attention.
Cars fly down that street constantly. Its only a matter of time before someone gets hit, fix this now.
FINALLY. This intersection is a death trap.
I walk my dog here every morning and feel like I'm taking my life in my hands. People need to slow down.
my kids cross right there for school and i worry every single day. please put something in to slow the local traffic.

Do it. Medford needs more speed bumps and crosswalks in these residential areas. People treat our streets like highways.
