NE 70th St is a main thoroughfare to/from Green Lake and Roosevelt businesses for the community, yet there is no crosswalk or stoplight across NE 70th St at 8th Ave NE, a frequently used and extremely dangerous intersection.
We need your support! Seattle's annual Neighborhood Park and Street Fund (http://www.seattle.gov/neighborhoods/npsf/) awards up to $90,000 to fund park and street improvements. We are applying to use these funds to have a crosswalk and curb bulbs installed to make this intersection safer for all street users.
Please sign this petition to let the City of Seattle know that this is a priority for our neighborhood and should receive 2015 NPSF funds to make this a reality! Please include your neighborhood or cross streets as well. Thanks!

• Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) has deemed this a "High Priority Area" in the Pedestrian Master Plan -http://www.seattle.gov/transportation/pedestrian_masterplan/docs/HPA.pdf
• NE 70th St is on SDOT's "Safe Routes to School" for Green Lake Elementary -http://www.seattle.gov/transportation/docs/srts/GreenLake.pdf
• The I-5 N on-ramp is a bottleneck and source of congestion and confusion -for cars trying to navigate through and around this intersection, often ignoring pedestrians waiting to cross NE 70th St.
• Traffic volumes will continue to increase with the construction of hundreds of new apartments in the neighborhood and construction traffic from the Roosevelt Light Rail station accessing I-5 here.
