In the interest of pedestrian safety, please sign this petition if you would like to see a crosswalk installed at 17th and Union, including any safety and visibility improvements.
This is a highly-used street crossing for people going to Trader Joes, Madison Market and TT Minor Park and Playground. With this crossing being located at the crest of a hill, vehicles often come from either direction on Union and crest the hill unaware of pedestrians. In addition, this is now adjacent to Seattle World School.
The purpose of this petition is to convince SDOT to install a painted and marked crosswalk with any other safety and visibility improvements.
PLEASE SIGN THIS PETITION IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEE A CROSSWALK INSTALLED CONNECTING THE SE CORNER OF 17TH AND UNION TO THE NORTH SIDE OF UNION STREET.

I've lived st 17 & E. Spring for 16 years and have watched the traffic on Union increase considerable. I have nearly been hit several times in the last three years. The lighting is poor & its at the crest of the hill which decreases driver visibility regardless of the direction the traffic is approaching from. A cross walk would be a great safety choice for all involved. Thank you, Paul
This intersection really needs a crosswalk. It's used by many pedestrians en route to Trader Joe's and families heading to play at the park. And there's a school there!
Please put a crosswalk there. We really need it there.

I've been crossing Union at 17th Ave. almost daily for the past 17 years, and I must have thought several thousand times, "They need a crosswalk here." Thanks to whoever, unlike me, was able to get off their butt and start a petition. Thanks!
