COVID-19 TESTING FOR ALL OR NONE!
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority, effective September 7, 2021, is implementing a new program titled "Be Vaccinated. Or Get Tested Weekly." This states that if you are not vaccinated or have not uploaded your vaccination information into their portal, you are subject to be COVID tested once a week or be subject to being sent home with no pay. This is clearly discriminatory to anyone regardless of vaccination status. The fact that the agency would separate employees in and of itself is discriminatory.
As employees, we understand that legally we are given a CHOICE to be vaccinated or be tested weekly. What we can not understand is, if vaccinated people are getting COVID-19 AND spreading it, why wouldn't they be tested as well? The answers we are given is that it is to protect the employees as well as the riding public of the MTA. So again, it begs the question : If vaccinated people are getting the virus AND spreading the virus, why wouldn't they be tested as well?
For the sake of public safety, as well as to not segregate employees based on their right to choose what is right for their own bodies, please include ALL employees for this testing regardless of their vaccination status. Vaccinated employees can catch and spread this just as easily as a non-vaccinated employee and both could pose a risk to the riding public. We know as employees the MTA puts a high value on safety. If all employees are not tested, this clearly does not reflect that high value.

The MTA is still burying their heads in the sand while ignoring the science that vaccinated carriers spread this virus too. We need to hit 500 signatures right now to force these bureaucrats to acknowledge the absurdity of their discriminatory policy. Get this link in front of one more person immediately so we can ramp up the pressure on them.

One hundred of us have logged our names because the MTA is pushing a policy that defies basic logic. It is time for the agency to stop acting like vaccinated workers are immune to spreading this virus.

The MTA is playing games with our health and we are almost at one hundred signatures to prove them wrong. Do not let this momentum stall while they continue to enforce these discriminatory policies. Get this link in front of three other people right now so we can force the agency to explain their hypocrisy.

Weekly testing is fruitless when there are no regulations or restrictions in place for passengers (besides mask wearing). If testing is enforced, then ALL employees should be tested. Vaccinated people can contract and spread the virus. Vaccinated people are also being hospitalized. Do not discriminate!
Businesses have no right to dictate what employees must put in their bodies. This decision should be between them and their doctors. Segregating people based on vaccination status is no different than “separate but equal” Jim Crow laws.
Vaccinated people can spread the virus the exact same way as unvaccinated. The vaccine DOES NOT keep you from getting the virus or spreading it. Therefor vaccinated people MUST be tested weekly if unvaccinated people are going to be tested. Why would you ignore the science and create segregation? Sounds like a major lawsuit if you ask me!
My body my choice! No vax mandate. And If weekly testing is mandated we want to be compensated for our time, travel, gas ,toll and not have to do it on our own time! And if pulled during our work shift to be paid any crewbook time and overtime. Thankyou.
If the unvax test weekly what confidence do we have that the vaxed are not sick getting us sick ? They could essentially go a year without being tested ? Like doing a DWI check point only for red cars and not any other
If vaccinated are equally infectious subjecting only the unvaccinated to testing is against title VII of the civil rights act of 1964, discrimination based on religion
Each individual has the God given right to make their own choices. Whether someone chooses to get vaccinated or not they should not be treated differently or made to suffer undue hardships from someone who is vaccinated. How is this different from the past injustices that our forefathers fought so valiantly for years ago.
