The Governor of Utah mandated that beginning November 30th 2020, all High School students participating in extracurricular activities are required to be tested for COVID every other week. The governor is going after extracurricular activities because he knows this is the way he can get students to comply. But if we all stand together and say NO, we can make a difference.
In August, the CDC stated that testing asymptomatic people was unnecessary. In October 2020, the CDC stated: "It is unethical and illegal to test someone who does not want to be tested" (read their statement here) Additionally, Utah constitutional code 62A-4a-201 section 1a explicitly states that “a parent possesses a fundamental liberty interest in the care, custody, and management of the parent's children” - NOT the government. This includes all medical decisions.
Before 2020, every school-required medical procedure had an opt-out option. This mandate for COVID testing is no different. Testing must remain optional!
Requiring asymptomatic students to be tested for a disease that will do them very little harm is an invasion of their medical privacy. Using their results against them to then trace who they have associated with and where they have been, violates their constitutional freedom of movement. Quarantining students, and by default, their families for several days or weeks violates their constitutional freedom of assembly. It also keeps parents away from desperately needed employment.

The emails from parents continue to roll in with personal stories about how this mandate hurts their students. I am currently compiling these accounts to hand over directly to the school board.

The governor needs to back off. We r the parents and we decide what happens to our childrens bodies not the state!!!!!!!
Testing kids who feel fine is just insane. Glad u started this.
My son is missing his basketball games because of this. Enough is enough. Leave our kids alone.

I’m not against testing but it’s not the governors right to mandate it upon us.
I want the mandatory testing to stop for my kids and me.

THIS IS OVERREACH. Plain and simple. Stop forcing medical stuff on our children without asking parents first.
